Thripti plateau and Gorge of ha- Satellite images of Crete

The plateau of Thripti is at an altitude of 880 metres and it is the highest area where vineyards exist in Crete. Today not many people live in Thripti anymore but there are still enough houses, some of them new. Thripti is between Kavoussi and Ierapetra and you can drive here on a dirt road from Kato Horio. Alternatively you can hike from Monastiraki village up to Thripti and then down to Kavoussi.
The gorge of Ha is also in the same area and it needs climbing skills and experience. If you drive from Pachia Ammos to Ierapetra, you will see the gorge of Ha as a deep cleft in the mountain to your left.
