Yannis Kokkinos, Photographer
Yannis Kokkinos lives in Heraklion, Crete and he was first engaged with photography as an amateur. By 1989 he starts having lessons at E.F.E. Heraklion (Heraklion Branch of the Hellenic Photographic Society) by some of the finest Cretan photographers.
Until today more than 260 of his photographs have been exhibited worldwide gaining 56 Medals and Honorary Mentions. At 1993 the Photographic Society of America (PSA.) is honoring him with one Star for his so far international presence and at 1994 the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) grants him with the A.FIAP distinction. By 1997 he gains his second PSA star while later he meets the typical qualification for the important E.FIAP title.
Today he is a professional photographer following closely the new computer technologies while working the traditional black and white photography at his darkroom. Being well aware of the special advantages each method has and a man that possesses his subject deeply he is using the proper combination of old and contemporary to achieve the best result at his artistic job. Behind the lens he knows how to give all the sensitiveness he has met, learned and applied to his international career and when in the lab he prints the blank photographic paper with art and precision.
He has done personal exhibitions with part of his works at Florina, Ptolemais, Kastoria, Kalamata and Mytilene in Greece.
